PS Rafeeq, who penned Amen, is back with another bizarre mixture of fantasy and reality, Utopiayile Rajavu. Also, this is the fifth time veteran moviemaker Kamal is collaborating with Mammootty. With their previous tie up Karutha Pakshikal, Kamal bagged Silver Lotus Award for the Best Film on Family Welfare in the 54th National Awards.
Jewel Mary, who hosted D for Dance TV programme, plays the female lead role opposite to Mammukka. Other experienced artists who did their part well include S. P. In the fictional Utopian country-side Kokrankara, C. P. Swathanthran (Mammootty) aka Utopiayile Rajavu is legally fighting to win back his ancestral property from Soman Thampi (Sunil Sukadha). His decision to sculpt a statue of his father Gandhian (Joy Mathew), and his ways seeking social activist Umadevi’s ( Jewel Mary) attention, take the story to new turns.
Neil D’Cunha cranked the camera and made the imaginary land more believable than the scenarist’s would have ever imagined. Haseeb Haneef and Noushad Alathur produced the movie under the banner of Grande Film Corporation.
Another attraction of Utopia are the original soundtracks and background score composed by veteran music director Ouseppachan.
