Rajesh Raman Pillai, one of the most sought after director of Malayalam film industry, is in discussions for his next Malayalam venture. He has decided to cast his favorite pick Kunchacko Boban once again, and also he will join hands with Jayasurya for the first time, who will play yet another other equally important lead role.
Like most of the directors, Rajesh Pillai’s first movie, ‘Hridayathil Sookshikkan’(2005), bombed at Box office and he had a real hard time coping up with the disheartening failure. We are not sure if anyone remembers that movie, but after 6 long years of fight with hard reality, he made a comeback which we will never ever forget. After ruling the Box Office and bagging many accolades with ‘Traffic’(2011), Rajesh Pillai returned with the female-oriented and critically acclaimed Mili, which is said to be the first sleeper hit of 2015.
For his next, Rajesh will associate with screenplay writer Arunlal Ramachandran, who has penned Thank You(2013) and Happy Journey(2014). Santhosh Thundiyil, the Bollywood Cinematographer of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai(1998), Jai Ho(2014) and Main Gabbar(2015), will lead the photography section.
Ashique Usman will produce this venture, under the banner of Milestone Cinemas. Ashique Usman, who has funded for movies like Arikil Oral and Happy Journey, is said to be the reason behind the tie-up of Arunlal and Rajesh Pillai for this next feature film.
The casting process seeking the female lead and the supporting roles are still going on.
Rajesh Pillai’s Bollywood remake of Traffic, with Manoj Bajpai, Prambrata Chatterjee and Divya Dutta in lead roles, will hopefully hit the silverscreen later this year.
Earlier, there were several reports that Rajesh’s next will be either Motorcycle Diaries, with Kunchacko, Nivin Pauly and Vishaka Singh or Lucifer, the big-budget with Mohanlal. But he has postponed both these projects to next years, for the better good.
Rajesh’s movies are not all about entertainment, he does his best to ignite our thoughts about the message he conveys. So expectantly, let’s wait for his next message..
