After the critically acclaimed ‘Kunjananthante Kada’, National Award winner director Salim Ahamed is collaborating once again with Mammootty. This time, he is recreating the NRI life in and around Middle-East, right from 1960s.
Pathemari is all about the character arch, the transitions, happening in the protagonist Pallikkal Narayanan’s life, over decades of Non-Resident Indian life. This movie will mark the feature film debut of Jewel Mary (D for Dance TV programme fame), who will portray the role of Narayanan’s pair. Sreenivasan, Parvathi Menon, Joy Mathew, Siddique and many other prominent artists will be seen in other pivotal character roles. Also Siddique’s son Shaheen Siddique will make his feature film entrance essaying another character role.
Veteran cinematographer Madhu Ambat is leading the camera department, while Oscar winner Resul Pookutty is handling the audiography. Bijipal has composed original sound tracks for this movie funded by Advocate T. K. Hashiq and T. P. Sudheesh, under the banner of Allens Media. Ghazal playback singer, Shahbaz Aman has sung for one of Bijipal’s compositions.
Salim Ahamed’s protagonists are down to earth men who do not fit into the general celluloid concept of the hero, and they can be one among any of the faceless or fractured millions around the globe. His feature film directorial debut with ‘Aadaminte Makan Abu’ bagged Kazan International Festival of Muslim Cinema awards, IFFI Silver Peacock, NETPAC Award, FIPRESCI Award, along with National Award and State Awards. So, reports that Pathemari is Salim Ahamed’s dream project have set the expectations at new heights. Film-buffs are eagerly waiting to witness the docking of this ship, which is said to be an Onam release.
