New Zealand to Canada : Countryside to ‘Two Countries’

The tentative title of director Shafi’s much awaited romantic-comedy has been changed from ‘Canadian Tharavu’ to ‘Two Countries’. After the success of ‘Life of Josutty’, Dileep is all set to portray yet another immigration centric plot. This time, it is Canada.

Principal photography framed locations in and around Ottawa, Manotick, Brockville Almonte and Niagara Falls, and wrapped up the Canada schedule by August 7th.  If everything goes as per the schedule, a red carpet premiere of the movie will happen soon at Ottawa. The widespread news on this red-carpet premiere itself has made ‘Two Countries’ more unique.

Shafi is all set to strike back, after the unfortunate failure of ‘101 Weddings’ (2012). This is the third Shafi – Dileep collaboration, after the successes of ‘Kalyanaraman’(2002) and ‘Marykkundoru Kunjadu’ (2010). Mamta Mohandas will portray the female lead role.

The rest of the cast include - Mukesh, Aju Varghese, Suraj Venjaramood, Ashokan, Rafi (Writer/ Director), Srinda, Lena and many other well known artists. Unofficial reports point that Isha Talwar will also play a key role in the movie. She was opted when Namitha Pramod confirmed that she is too busy to be part of the tight schedule.

Another interesting news is that, Veteran Cinematographer Ravi K. Chandran’s son Santhana Krishnan will crank the camera for Shafi and debut. 23 years ago, Ravi K Chandran became an independent cinematographer by filming the Malayalam Movie Kilukkampetti for Shaji Kailas.

Gopi Sundar composed the original sound tracks for the movie. This is his first collaboration with Shafi. Rajaputhra Renjith is producing the movie under his home banner Rajaputhra Visual Media.

Canadian Malayalees are too excited about the production and most probably, this movie will encourage other makers to choose Canada as location more often. Watch this exclusive video from the archives of Canadian Broadcasting Corporation :
