Do you remember ‘Mrityunjayam’, a fragment of the well acclaimed anthology ‘Kerala Café’, starring Fahadh Faasil, Rima Kallingal and Thilakan? It was filmed by Uday Ananthan. Uday is gonna make a comeback with a new movie, starring Mammootty and the story can be categorized under romance drama genre. That’s right, Mammukka is all set to personate a romantic hero on screen, after ages.
The tentative project title is ‘White’, in which Mammootty’s character is said to be a middle-aged man who falls in love with a 25 year old woman. Mammukka began his journey to stardom as a Romantic Hero, and eventually he shifted the gear to Action heroic roles and to responsible family man roles. Ardent fans are all excited about the news that Mammukka has decided to move out of this cocoon.
The principal photography will commence by August this year, at London. Uday Ananthan himself penned the screenplay with Nandini Valsan and Praveen Balakrishnan. Bipin Chandran associated with the trio and wrote the dialogues. Uday has roped in his favorite music director Ouseppachan to compose tunes for ‘White’.
Uday Ananthan’s debut to movie industry was ‘Pranayakalam’ (2007) starring Ajmal Ameer and Vimala Raman. Even though the movie received good reports initially, it ended up as an average grosser. Next attempt, ‘Mrityunjayam’, the fourth segment of anthology ‘Kerala Café’ (2009), was a stand-alone horror thriller short and was well appraised by the audience. Also, along with 9 other directors of the anthology, he won the Network for the Promotion of Asian Cinema (NETPAC) Award.
Presumptions suggest that White, Uday’s third directorial venture, will exceed all expectations. What’s your view on Mammootty’s journey to romance on screen, after a break?
