Jilebi – Sweet, as the name suggests

What’s the first image that comes into your mind when you hear the title ‘Jilebi’?

Those twisty knots of deep-fried wheat flour soaked in sugar syrup. The vision of that sweet - sugary coating is making your mouth water, right? The movie Jilebi, is as sweet as the vision you just saw.

Jilebi is the directorial debut of Arun Shekhar, who himself has penned the story and the screenplay. The movie is subtle feel good entertainer, which has a lot of situational humour, and cast is lead by Jayasurya, Remya Nambeesan, Master Garav Menon and baby Sayuri.

Sreekuttan (Jayasurya) is a 2 times Karshashree award winner farmer, who leads a calm and quiet life with his mother. His life takes a new turn when he is forced to take the responsibility of his nephew Paachu (Gaurav Menon) and niece Ammu (Sayuri), who are two spoon-fed kids brought up in Dubai. Initially, kids create hell lot of problems to make it clear to them that they wanna head back to Dubai. But gradually, Sreekuttan tries to inculcate the good qualities of leading the life as a villager, as a hard-core Keralite and the story evolves further into more emotional levels.

Alby Antony cranked the camera for Arun Shekhar and each of the serene frame will anchor in you for long and provoke thoughts about the villages you have visited till date. Yeah, those were the days.

National Award winner music director, Bijibal composed original sound tracks and background music for the movie. Undoubtedly, the compositions has raised the bar for everyone in the league. No, we are not exaggerating. One of the most discussed Malayalam song of this year is ‘Njan Oru Malayali’ :

Renowned production company East Coast produced this sweet family entertainer flick, under the leadership of East Coast Vijayan. The rest of the cast includes KPAC Lalitha, Vijaya Raghavan, Shaari, Dharmajan, Sasi Kalinga, Master Minon and many other talented artists.
