Once, Malayalam movies were revolving around plots that are family centric. Even the most successful movies of other genres had definite elements to establish the value of family. Guess what, those golden days are back. As you all know, Sreenivasan was one of the pillars behind many family entertainers. ‘Jacobinte Swargarajyam’ could be perceived as a statement that, his son Vineeth Sreenivasan is assertively holding the ground. Their ground!
The movie is based on the lives of Vineeth’s friend and his family. If the reports are to be believed, most of the moments that hooked audience are based on true events. If a movie narrates the story as it is, there is a high chance that it would tank at Box Office. Jacobinte Swargarajyam has plenty of un-cliched moments that are relatable to everyone. Yes, Vineeth who has no prior experience in this genre made the movie as if it is his forte.
Jacob (Renji Panicker) is a very successful NRI businessman, but all others are envious for some other reason. They wonder how can someone lead a family the way he does. The happy moments of Jacob with his wife Sherley (Lakshmi Ramakrishnan), their sons Jerry (Nivin Pauly), Ebin (Sreenath Bhasi), Chris (Stacen) and daughter Ammu (Aima Sebastian) might even pose such a question in your head too. That’s when the great American economic crisis hit Middle-East. Jacob who has invested mostly in steel, faces a dip like all others. To make it worse, he gets cheated. To repay all the debts as soon as possible, Jacob secures a deal and flies to Libya, where he gets stuck. Because of the constraints of InterPol, he gets grounded in Libya. Jerry who had no prior experience in managing the everything on his own is forced to take up the lead. Under the guidance of his strong mom, and with the support of his family, Jerry sails against fate.
Each and every artist has performed exemplarily, especially Renji Panicker, Nivin Pauly, Lakshmi Ramakrishnan, Sreenath Bhasi, Sai Kumar, T.G. Ravi, Ashwin Kumar and Dinesh Nair. Jomon T.John’s photography, Shaan Rahman’s musical compositions and Renjan Abraham’s cuts support Vineeth’s vision extensively. Jacob’s Kingdom of Heaven is also the debut production venture of Noble Babu Thomas, under the banner of Big Bang Entertainments.
This is one such must watch movie that will inspire you to test your limits. After all, when the happiness of your family is at stake, quitting is not an option, right?
