Puli Murugan, which is touted to be the most expensive Malayalam film ever, have a lot of breath taking action sequences to showcase. Director Vysakh and his team were keenly focusing on hiring the best action choreographer for this venture and now they are all confident that the movie will pack the theaters for a while. Yes, the most pricey action director of India’s headed our way. That’s right, Peter Hein has nodded to Vysakh’s narration.
Puli Murugan will be Hein’s first Malayalam project. Being born for Vietnamese immigrants, the martial arts training he undertook helped him to be an extra fighter in movies. Gradually he assisted renowned fight masters Kanal Kannan and Vijayan. That’s when Telugu filmmaker Krishna Vamsi recognized his talent and hired him to choreograph the stunts for his movie ‘Murari’. Later he rose to fame with his works for Magadheera, Anniyan, Ghajini, Enthiran and several other blockbusters. He was even nominated for the most prestigious Taurus World Stunt Award and competed against Hollywood giants.
Director Vysakh is all excited about Peter Hein joining his team.
Puli Murugan is Vysakh’s seventh directorial venture. Even though 4 of his movies made it to the hit charts, both the previous flicks bombed at Box Office. Hence he wants to furnish Puli Murugan as one magnum opus which we won’t forget.
Another interesting plus is Tamil superstar Prabhu, who will share screen space with Mohanlal after 19 long years. The last association of these stars was in the period classic film ‘Kalapani’ directed by Priyadarshan.
Udaykrishna of Udaykrishna-Siby K Thomas duo has penned the screenplay. This will be Udaykrishna’s first independent work, after Siby K Thomas’s decision to switch his career to direction. No other detail regarding the plot or the character is out yet and the whole industry is inquisitively waiting to know more about the story which lured Peter Hein.
Principal photography will commence by mid-June in and around Vietnam. Tomichan Mulakupaadam will produce Puli Murugan under the banner of Mulakupaadam films, after his association with Vysakh for the superhit debut Pokkiri Raja.
Ardent fans of Mohanlal will have to wait till the end of this year to see Puli Murugan on silver screens, but hopefully it’s going to be a worthwhile wait.
